Be prepared to orate your very best Selkirk Grace because tickets are now on general sale for the Quo Vadis & Friends: Black Axe Mangal x Burns Night annual feast, taking place on Saturday 25 January.

Inspired by the corner kebab shops of London and the nose-to-tail eating ethos from his decade under Fergus Henderson at St John and St John Bread & Wine, Lee Tiernan and his wife Kate launched Islington's Black Axe Mangal in 2015. BAM quickly gained a cult following for Tiernan's creative cooking and the audacious space in which it’s served.

As the first guests of 2020, Lee Tiernan, Tristram Bowden and the BAM crew return to Quo Vadis for their fourth Burns Night celebration. Previous years have seen duck eggs with whipped sea urchins and monk's beard; braised hare with pig’s blood and chocolate; some fairly rude biscuits with foie gras and peanut butter ice cream; and the infamous "cock-em-bouche". Guests can expect the traditional neeps and tatties this year, as well as a menu of BAM’s not-so-traditional – yet always exceptional – culinary masterpieces.

While Tiernan and Bowden man the stoves, upstairs bear witness to the obligatory bagpipes and the annual addressing of the haggis. A party in the QV Club will follow, where all ticket holders are invited to continue the fun.

Tickets are £60, including welcome drink, and are now available to Quo Vadis members and non-members.
