A celebration of local Indian restaurants in London

To celebrate this year’s National Curry Week, two Foodism staffers were tasked with the ultimate Kingfisher challenge: head into their local curry house and learn the tricks of the trade from some of London’s most seasoned Indian chefs.

At Kennington Tandoori and India India in Chancery Lane, Mike and Ally learnt to make a selection of the restaurant’s most loved and most ordered dishes, from butter chicken and onion bhajis, to paneer jalfrezi and aloo chaat puree.

The challenge didn’t stop there: next came the biggest hurdle of them all. Mike and Ally had to recreate the dishes they’d learnt in the chef’s kitchens to feed a hungry dinner party of five friends. With things hotting up and pressures rising, could they translate the skills they learned in the restaurants to their own kitchen? Which dish, ultimately, would be the star of the show and the guests favourite? And would one fall flat at the final hurdle? Watch the videos below to find out.
