If you're anything like us, you might already think of yourself as something of a pro in the kitchen. While we love to go out for a meal here at Foodism, we secretly rate our talents at home.

If you tried to put us in a professional kitchen, though, we'd crash and burn imminently, quickly veto'ing any dreams we have of becoming a culinary prodigy. In fact, we reckon it would require a decent stint at Leiths School of Food & Wine to get us up to industry level.

Founded by Prue Leith and Caroline Waldengrave in 1975, Leiths School of Food & Wine is an industry-leading cookery school that prides itself on teaching the culinary talent of today and tomorrow.

Leiths has an impressive roster of successful alumni, many who have gone on to be the UK food stars of today including Matt Tebutt of Saturday Kitchen, Olia Hercules (cookbook author and #CookforUkraine activist), Aji Akokomi (Founder of West African fine-dining restaurant Akoko) and Skye McAlpine (food writer and stylist).

Leiths offers a range of accredited professional training courses to help you activate your culinary aspirations on your terms from the full-time Leiths Diploma to flexible part-time professional courses. The options are wide ranging, focusing on anything from nutrition in culinary practice or wine pairings with food to advanced cooking certificates.

This Open Evening will be an open house style event where attendees can experience live cooking, take part in a wine tasting, meet existing students, tour the school and kitchens, receive welcome talks from Leiths' Principal Jenny Stringer and Managing director Camilla Schneideman and speak to the school's teachers, careers advisors and support staff. You might see us there, talking up our culinary talents to anyone who'll bother to listen.

What's more, tickets are absolutely free. Follow the link above to register for the event.
