Now, they’re inviting Foodism readers to join a nationwide search for the most prized flake of them all: the Perfect Pyramid. Hidden in your classic box or tucked into your tub could be a flawless pyramid crystal, formed naturally through this century-old craft. Spot one, share it, and you could unlock something truly extraordinary:

  • An exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of our historic Saltworks in Maldon, Essex – usually closed to the public.
  • A hands-on salt-raking session with one of our Master Salt Makers.
  • A catered lunch in the heart of Maldon.

The Perfect Pyramid competition launches on 15 September and runs until 19 October 2025. The winner will be announced on 26 October 2025.

Multiple entries are accepted. All entries will be collated and judged by Maldon Salt’s head photographer, DAVID LOFTUS.

The winning photo/video will be selected by Maldon Salt’s head photographer, DAVID LOFTUS. DAVID LOFTUS will select the most ‘perfect’ pyramid-shaped sea salt flake.
The winner contacted via direct message on either Instagram or TikTok, by the @maldonsalt account only. The winner must provide a valid UK address and phone number to claim the prize.
Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are illegible, mechanically reproduced, forged, falsified, altered, or tampered with in any way.

Maldon Salt will contact and announce the winner on 26/10/2025 on Instagram at @maldonsalt.
The free bundle giveaway winner will agree a tour date and visit within 4 weeks following the announcement date, 26/10/2025.
If the winner does not respond within 7 days of initial contact, the Promoter reserves the right to withdraw the prize and select an alternative winner.
Travel expenses to and from the Maldon Saltworks is included for the winner and their guest.
Please be aware that personal data will be used by the Promoter for the sole purpose of fulfilling the free giveaway offer only. All personal data will be removed within 14 days after the winner has been selected and has sent across their details for verification.
