Housed in a former cotton factory on the banks of the River Teith, Deanston Whisky is a leading Highland Scotch producer that has put organic distilling at the heart of its production processes since its founding in 1966.

The Deanston team has always walked to the beat of their own, er, dram. While organic distilling may have become a trend for some brands in recent years, it has been a core pillar of Deanston since the beginning, in fact, they were the first fully certified producer of Organic single malt whisky in Scotland, and have been accredited by the UK’s Organic Food Federation since April 2000.

Un-chill filtered with no added colouring in a distillery that is powered by the waters of the Teith, the whiskies produced by the brand are market leaders. The newest 2002 release has been aged in organic American oak barrels, which delivers the brand's signature waxy, citrus character, producing a fine dram full of rich honeyed spice, stone fruits, and a long finish of cocoa.

So, what makes the whisky so special?

Silent Season

Silent season is a time-honoured tradition at whisky distilleries, where production pauses for cleaning, maintenance, and repairs. At Deanston, it marks the end of summer production, with the Organic new make spirit being the first to come off the stills each year.

Grain to Glass

Deanston use organically grown, pesticide-free malt sourced from Scottish farmers. The malt has an organic passport, is processed at an organic maltings, and the entire production process is certified by the Organic Food Federation.

American Oak Maturation

This release is fully matured in organic American Oak casks, imparting a unique waxy, citrus character. Sourced from the Kelvin Cooperage in Kentucky, these casks are first de-charred and then toasted, ensuring they are organic certified and deliver enhanced extractives during maturation.

Bottled at Cask Strength

In line with the Deanston house style, the Organic 2002 American Oak release is non-chill filtered with no added colour and is bottled at cask strength of 49.7% ABV.
