Patrón's Paloma cocktail is the perfect summer serve

To celebrate Patrón's first ever Paloma Week this August, here's a knockout recipe for one of the world's underrated classic cocktails

Patrón's Paloma cocktail

Makes 1

The grassy sweetness of tequila, the zesty bitterness of grapefruit, the thirst-quenching fizz of soda – there's no doubting that the paloma is one of the world's best long drinks.

As something of an expert in the production of premium tequila, Patrón knows this. That's why it's enlisted some of the crème de la crème of the bartending industry to help celebrate the first ever Paloma Week. Taking place from 23-30 August, it'll see some of the best bars in London and Manchester offering one-off twists on the cocktail. In London, that includes the likes of Hacha, Café Pacifico, Homeboy, Annabel’s, Satan’s Whiskers, Maison Bab and London Cocktail Club, Bethnal Green.

We'd highly recommend getting in amongst it and visiting as many as possible, but if you can't, you can't go wrong with this classic recipe from the godfather of tequila, Patrón. Day or night, it's a refreshing and delicious drink that's so much more than the sum of its parts.

Ingredients

  • 50ml PATRÓN Reposado tequila
  • 30ml freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice
  • 15ml lime juice
  • 10ml agave syrup
  • 30ml premium soda water
  • Pink grapefruit wedge, to garnish

Method

  1. Garnish a highball glass with pink salt.
  2. Combine all ingredients apart from soda, shake and strain into the ice-filled highball glass.
  3. Top with soda water and garnish with the pink grapefruit wedge.

The Patrón Paloma Week will take place for the first time from 23 to 30 August 2021 in London and Manchester. For more information and to find out how to take part, go to jiggerbeakerglass.org/article/paloma-week
