The Wild Hunt Punch
Step 1: Forage & freeze your sloes
Seek out sloe blackthorn hedges, pluck the ripe purple berries, and freeze overnight, a simple alchemy that coaxes out their deep ruby juice.
Step 2: Make spiced sloe & bay syrup
Simmer sloes with sugar, bay, cinnamon and cloves until the kitchen is fragrant and the syrup glows red as embers. Strain and cool.
Step 3: Mix your punch (serves 6-8)
- 250ml Bathtub Gin
- 150ml spiced sloe & bay syrup
- 50ml fresh lemon jince
- 500ml cloudy cider
- 250ml sparkling apple juice or soda water
Warm the cider and syrup gently, add Bathtub Gin and lemon juice off the heat. Pour into a punch bowl and serve steaming in mugs by the fire.
