Few collaborations make more sense than the fusion of two iconic brands from the UK – Jaguar and The Glenturret. With both celebrating exceptional craftsmanship in their fields, it feels fitting to pair together to celebrate a car that come to personify chic automobile design.
Jaguar Classic and The Glenturret – Scotland's oldest working distillery – are marking the 70th Anniversary of the Jaguar D-type with a limited edition bottle in its whisky collaboration series.
The newly released single malt is a celebration of seven decades of the legendary Jaguar D-type, a vehicle boasting advanced engineering and bold design when it was introduced 70 years ago. The limited run of 270 bottles completes the trio paying tribute to other iconic sports cars from Jaguar’s history – the C-type and E-type.
In 2021, The Glenturret and Jaguar Classic released 265 bottles of a bespoke 30-year-old single malt for the 60th anniversary of the E-type, a car often regarded as one of the most beautiful ever created. Subsequently, in 2024, the pair collaborated again with a 32-year-old whisky to honour the C-type’s 70th anniversary, with 220 bottles produced – representing the horsepower of the iconic XK engine found in the Le Mans-winning car.
Dominic Elms, Director of Jaguar Land Rover Classic, said: “It feels very apt to be collaborating with such a prestigious brand to celebrate the engineering success of one of Jaguar’s finest automobiles – and complete the trio of whiskies that are as exclusive as our vehicles. Like Jaguar Classic, The Glenturret are purveyors of perfection, and our shared ethos is reflected in the craftmanship of both of our talented teams.”
This new whisky is a minimum age of 35 years old and drawn from six casks. Three Pedro Ximenez sherry-seasoned European oak hogsheads impart rich fruit and warm spices, while two oloroso-seasoned American oak casks bring vanilla and cinnamon. Finally, an American oak refill hogshead delivers delicate light oak notes.
Tasting notes include rich dried fruits and toffee apples, dusted with cinnamon. Warm notes of ginger and nutmeg interwoven with green apple. A warm but subtle finish – with hints of resinous wood, fruits and a slight oily texture.
John Laurie, Managing Director at The Glenturret, said: “It is an honour to be working with Jaguar on our third single malt whisky. The Glenturret customers appreciate detail, craftmanship and design, which aligns perfectly with the ethos of Jaguar and its rich history as a British brand, and to celebrate the anniversary of one of its best – the D-type – is a truly special opportunity.”
