Is there anything better than a bold bottle of red wine with Christmas dinner? Possibly, actually – how about finishing your day with a dram of Tullibardine's limited edition The Murray Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cask which sees 15-year-old liquid finished in ex-Châteauneuf-du-Pape casks from the distillery's parent company, Picard Vins & Spiritueux.

This is the latest expression from the distillery's Marquess Collection. Launched by the distillery in 2016, the collection is a nod to famous historical figures who bore the Marquess of Tullibardine title in Scotland for centuries, and the rich history of the Tullibardine region. The Murray name derives from the second Marquess of Tullibardine, Sir William Murray, who fought for the Jacobites at the Battle of Sheriffmuir on the Ochil hills above the Tullibardine distillery.

The range has gained cult status within the whisky community since launch due to the experimental nature of the casks. This latest release was distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2024, and enhances the characteristic Tullibardine style of vanilla, caramel and oaken notes with the richness and fruity complexity of the prestigious red wine casks. The nose sees dark berries and plum with hints of stewed fruits and figs, while the palate comes with a hit of rich spice, with a raspberry sweetness and creamy mouthfeel on the finish.

For the whisky and red wine lover in your life, there are few bottles that will delight more – especially given the limited edition nature of this expression, with just 15,720 bottles on the market.
