Have you ever fancied upping your pot noodle game? Are you a ramen fiend who simply can’t get enough of the warming noodle soup? Well, look no further. Ramen legends Shoryu, founded in 2012 by the team behind London’s Japan Centre, have teamed up with the original Kings of the pot noodle, Nissin, to launch this at home product as part of Nissin’s Ramen Masters Series.
The flavour – which took 9 months of collaboration and development to make – is based on Shoryu’s signature Ganso ramen with pork and chicken broth, spring onion, red ginger, kikurage mushrooms, and plant-based meat topping. Shoryu Ramen specialises in Hakata tonkotsu ramen, a style made with a thick, rich, white pork soup served with straight ramen noodles. These flavour profiles have been concentrated and adapted for this on-the-go iteration.
Cup noodles are a huge part of Japanese culture and every day life
Kanji Furukawa, executive chef at Shortu, said of the product: “I’m proud that Shoryu has collaborated with Japan’s premier cup noodle brand. Cup noodles are a huge part of Japanese culture and everyday life and Nissin are the global leaders. As their sole ramen bar partner in the UK we can’t wait to bring Shoryu’s authentic taste to cupboards nationwide.”
Available now, the Shoryu Ramen Tonkotsu cup noodles will cost just £1.99 a pop and are available from all Shoryu ramen bars, Japan Centre food halls and at japancentre.com
