The Bandarra Spritz, a perfect spritz alternative

The spritz is a modern classic, and if you're looking for an alternative to the big hitters, the Bandarra Spritz, made with El Bandarra Alfresco, is just the ticket

The Bandarra Spritz

Makes 1

In case you've been hiding under a rock for the past few years, it's probable you'll have heard of the spritz, that fizzy Italian long drink made with a bitter aperitif, sparkling wine and soda water.

But while the Aperol spritz is undeniably the most popular in the UK, many European countries and regions have their own versions, from the more bitter Campari, white aperitifs, vermouths and more. The common factor is the three ingredients in the unfailing ratio of 3:2:1.

Now, Barcelona-based vermouth brand El Bandarra is getting in on the act with a spritz of its own – not with its Blanco, Rojo or Rosé vermouth, but its newly created Al Fresco aperitif combined with cava. The Bandarra Spritz is perfect for a pre-dinner drink, a companion to the hora del vermut on the weekend, or pretty much any time the sun's out. Make it at home with the recipe below, or grab it in a few venues in London during summer 2022.

Ingredients

  • 3 parts El Bandarra Alfresco
  • 2 parts cava
  • Soda water, to top

Method

  1. Prep your wine glass or tumber with ice.
  2. Pour around a third of El Bandarra Al Fresco into your glass. Add the cava and a dash of soda water.
  3. Garnish with a slice of grapefruit and an olive.

The Bandarra Spritz is available at selected locations including Between the Bridges and the El Bandarra Tuk Tuk & Spritz Bar in August and September 2022. For more information go to elbandarra.com
