Sure, you might have a bottle of expired soy sauce in your cupboard and, sure, you might have watched enough episodes of Takeshi’s Castle to last you a lifetime, but how much do you actually know about Japan? And how much do you actually know about the excellent food and drink which that nation produces?

Everything you need to know about Japan Week 2019

Taking place from 23 September til 3 October, Japan Week is set to be the biggest celebration of the unique food and drink culture of Japan that London has ever seen. Restaurants and bars both big and small will be taking part.

Japanese restaurants such as:

  • Aqua Kyoto
  • Sakagura

Plus non-Japanese (and fusion) eateries like:

  • Avenue
  • SUSHISAMBA
  • Gingerline

will be offering exclusive dishes, sake pairings and more across the duration of the celebrations.

The sponsor of this year’s inaugural celebration is JFOODO – a division of the government responsible for promoting Japanese food and drink.

From National Katsu Curry Day on 27 September to World Sake Day on 1 October, the 10 days will be packed full of one-off events, limited-edition menus and exclusive discounts.
