On Sunday 1 December, Bodega Rita's, our favourite deli and sandwich store in Coal Drops Yard will celebrate its first birthday. As any parent will be able to tell you, that’s a big deal.
That date also marks World AIDS Day, which gathers people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV. In light of that, Bodega Rita's will be hosting a bake sale with some of its best London food friends, to raise awareness and funds for Positive East – a non-profit organisation, which works on the forefront of HIV service and care.
During the bake sale, Bodega Rita's will offer a variety of its popular sandwiches as well as heaps of wine and a great raffle. For the occasion, a number of bakeries, including prestigious names like Flor, Ottolenghi, Lily Vanilli, The Dusty Knuckle, and Pophams have agreed to support Bodega Rita's by giving away some of their wares. All proceeds from the sale of baked goods will go directly in favour of the organisation.
Alongside this great project, Bodega Rita's is also partnering with Roberto Tovar, founder of Numero De Serie, whose mission is to revive the conversation about HIV and sexual health within communities that have disengaged from it. To do so, Roberto partners with artists and designers and sells limited edition pieces.
Bodega Rita's first birthday and bake sale will be taking place on Sunday 1st December from 10:30am to 5pm at the deli's Coal Drop Yard's site.
