For one night only on Wednesday 15 January, chef Richard H Turner and butcher James George will bring a Turner & George 'Beef Speakeasy' to Mayfair, where (surprise, surprise) beef will be taking centre stage throughout the menu.
Turner & George was conceived by Richard Turner and James George to combine Turner's passion for great tasting but ethically produced meat, with George's knowledge of good meat and love of traditional butchery. Making waves in the UK food scene since its inception, both online and from the shop's physical location in Angel, Turner & George always drives for quality and provenance, using naturally raised animals sourced directly from personally approved independent farms and smallholdings.
The pop-up 'Beef Speakeasy' will let great beef take centre stage. Richard H Turner will take to the live-fire grill to prepare the very best native and rare breed beef, all slow grown and grass fed and sourced from the UK, whilst offering an education into breeds and cuts.
The menu for the evening will include dishes of oxtail nuggets with Ogleshield and kimchi ketchup; chopped steak with caviar, bone marrow and Coombeshead sourdough; a hearty steak and kidney pudding with madeira gravy; and ending with ash-baked rosemary studded Tunworth and garlic with onion bread. The Gridiron team have also created an optional wine pairing for each course to complement the distinctive flavours of each cut.
Prices start at £60 per person, with a wine pairing option for an additional £40 per person, or diners can choose counter seating overlooking the open kitchen for £75, which includes a welcome cocktail.
