The race is on to find the next brilliant food start-up as Le Cordon Bleu London launches the Julia Child Scholarship for 2019. The winner of the year-long competition, which seeks out the UK's next culinary entrepreneur, will win a place on the legendary school's Diplôme de Pâtisserie, a three-month Culinary Management course, a stint at the Savoy and accommodation to boot, as well as guidance from Le Cordon Bleu alumni.
Just like Julia Child, you, too, have now got the chance to follow your passion and begin your career as an entrepreneur in the culinary and hospitality industry. Hey, who knows: you might even become a household name just like Julia herself. Or you'll just be a really successful chef and we'll end up begging you to get a reservation at one of your many fine restaurants. Either is fine with us.
For over a century, Le Cordon Bleu has helped shape the careers of some of the best chefs and food enthusiasts around the world. Chefs like LCB alumna – and all-around national treasure – Mary Berry who'll be awarding the winner with their prize at the end of the competition. That prize consists of a place on both of Le Cordon Bleu's highly respected Diplôme de Pâtisserie and its Diploma in Culinary Management. The 12-month course is comprised of two diplomas studied one after the other to form the Diplôme de Pâtisserie with Culinary Management.
Throughout the tuition, the winner will also be invited to meet some of the most successful London-based F&B alumni for one-to-one mentoring sessions. A few of those big shots include author Luiz Hara, restaurateur Dhruv Mittal, Georgia Green of Georgia's Cakes and Evelina Ogorzalek of Evelina's Patisserie. During the year-long course, you'll also carry out some work experience at iconic luxury London hotel The Savoy, offering a truly incredible first-hand insight into the operations of a high-end restaurant kitchen.
Don't worry if you're not the overall winner, either. The good people at Churchill tableware will be providing prizes for both the winner and the runners up, and Zwilling will be providing a set of Diploma knives for 2nd and 3rd place. Which isn't all that shabby.
