Isle of Wight Tomatoes is much more than its name suggests. What began as a small venture more than 20 years ago has evolved into a specialist grower cultivating over 100 varieties of tomatoes. From the outset, the mission has been clear: to produce tomatoes with real flavour and reconnect people with tomatoes that actually taste like tomatoes.

At a time when tomatoes had become engineered for uniformity rather than flavour, Isle of Wight Tomatoes chose a different path. Instead of chasing sameness, the focus has always been on diversity, discovery and growing varieties selected for taste above all else.

The island’s unique microclimate plays its part. Long hours of sunshine, coastal light and carefully managed growing conditions help develop natural sweetness and depth. But flavour begins long before harvest. The team works closely with seed breeders around the world, trialling new varieties each year to introduce new colours, textures and flavour profiles. Innovation is not treated as a trend but as an ongoing process, ensuring the range continues to evolve while remaining rooted in its founding principles.

The tomatoes themselves remain the stars. From heritage varieties full of character to modern cultivars selected for balance and complexity, each earns its place through flavour.
Alongside its fresh tomatoes, the business has developed a curated range of tomato-based products, all guided by the same flavour-first philosophy. Each recipe is deliberately simple, allowing the quality of the tomatoes to take centre stage, supported by carefully selected complementary ingredients.

As a B Corp-accredited company, sustainability sits at the heart of the operation. The onsite kitchen plays an important role in ensuring that every tomato grown is valued, including those that may fall outside retail cosmetic standards yet offer exceptional flavour. By transforming these into sauces, passatas and other products, the business embraces a circular approach that reduces waste while celebrating the full potential of the harvest.

This summer sees the launch of a distinctive new range of British-made pasta sauces. Produced in small batches and crafted with a minimal number of high-quality ingredients, the range aims to bring a more artisanal, flavour-led perspective to a category traditionally dominated by Italian imports. It is both a celebration of local produce and a reminder that exceptional British ingredients, grown with care and made simply, can stand proudly alongside the very best in the world.

Isle of Wight Tomatoes stands as a quiet reminder that exceptional ingredients begin with care, curiosity and a commitment to doing things differently.
