Life doesn't get much better than drinking glorious cocktails in glorious surrounds, and that's exactly what you'll find at Cocktails in the City.

A mini festival taking place in Bedford Square Gardens, it brings together London's frankly excellent mixed drinks scene with a lovely, lively little schedule of live music, silent disco and street food. Think of it as a nice taster of the easy-going, good-time festi atmosphere – except you don't need wellies or to go beyond the remit of the Tube.

The weekend of 20-21 August is the last instalment in a trio of Cocktail in the City events this summer, so you know it'll go out with a bang – helped along by music from Piano Works and a mariachi band, crazy golf from Swingers and masterclasses from the experts at TT Liquor.

After 18 months of exploring their own home bars, the focus this year is on bespoke home-made ingredients that the respective mixologists have been tinkering around with at home. Loads of Foodism favourites are setting up shop (or is that bar?) from Friday and Saturday, mixing up one-off serves that you won't find anywhere else. Here's a flavour of what to look forward to:

  • The Chameleon by Bar Swift, a mezcal-laden cocktail with pineapple and green pepper
  • Glass Wing by Roots Bar, a cross between a Sex On The Beach and a Milk Punch
  • Blue Bar's Tropic City, a summer sipper of pineapple soda Lemon and Basil Belvedere Organic Infusion

If that hasn't piqued your interest, here's the full list of the boundary-pushing bars on the lineup:

Blue Bar at The Berkeley - Boiler & Company - Café Pacifico - Homeboy - Nightjar - Oriole Bar - Pergola - [ROOTS] Cocktail Bar - Strongman's Tipple - Swift Bars - The Alchemist - TT Liquor - The United Kingdom Bartenders Guild - The Piano Works - ThreeAfter3 - Trader Vics - Trailer Happiness - Zetter Townhouse

There'll be food, too – Mexican street food from Cafe Pacifico and pasta from Officina 00, both primed to be the perfect foil to the drinks.

And if cocktails aren't your thing, there's even a stand from The Barbecue Beer Brothers, pairing smoked meats and draft beer. What are you waiting for?

Tickets are £20, which includes your first cocktail, live music and tastings and demonstrations.
