Future of Food Festival 2023

As this early September heatwave is proving, climate change is quite literally a hotter topic than ever. And while we all have our part to play in tackling carbon emissions, there's no doubt that the food system has an enormous impact on the environment.

Sustainability is a buzzword that has increasingly been thrown around with empty promises. It's not an immediate fix, and it takes time to establish ways of being that actively nourish our planet. This is something the Regent Street and St James's neighbourhoods are aware of, and sustainability remains top of mind for the future plans for both destinations. But, why gatekeep that information? Ultimately, the more we can do together, the better we can more forward. 

That's the thinking behind the Future of Food festival that will be running across Regent Street and St James's from 18-24 September, featuring 17 events, 23 participating restaurants and chefs, and Regent Street’s very first Urban Farm, in partnership with Square Mile Farms.

Future of Food sets out to engage and inspire local communities and beyond, by celebrating the diverse culinary landscape in central London, rooted in sustainability, innovation, and creativity. From reusable ingredients to Michelin-starred menus, partaking experts will demonstrate the power of sustainability, innovation and creativity in the culinary world. More than just a commitment to sustainability, Future of Food is an education in insightful and forward-thinking initiatives showcasing ways the food and restaurant industry is at the vanguard of sustainability and can inspire us all.

Urban Farm

From living walls to fully harvested farm pods, the Urban Farm – the first of its kind in this part of London – will be the hub for Future of Food. Open for walk-ins as well as ticketed events, it will play host to trend setters, taste makers and experts in their field, ready to inspire and ignite interest in the future of food.

From the Sea the Future events that will get you up close and personal with seafood-focused chefs and fishmongers to Food Cycle dinners that are all about reusing and repurposing ingredients to produce incredible dishes that deliver the future of food on a plate, this week-long roster of dinners, discussions and more will have you all clued up on the necessity of sustainability in our food systems.
