Ask any Londoner their fail-safe, much-loved restaurants in the city and it's highly likely Trullo will be one of their responses. The restaurant, which opened in 2010, has spent 15 years cooking up seasonal, deceptively simple Italian dishes to a rapturous audience, turning its high-traffic corner a stone's throw from Highbury & Islington station into a culinary hub.
This spring, the restaurant is transporting itself across town, opening in iconic department store Harvey Nichols for a three month residency. Diners can expect the regional Italian dishes that Trullo has become so loved for, with an added flourish, too – this is Knightsbridge, after all.
Chopped beef fillet with rosemary and anchovy, grilled asparagus with butter and bottarga, and beef shin ragu and pici cacio e pepe will sit alongside dishes one would expect from this SW1 postcode; tagliarini with Beluga caviar and grilled dover sole with Palourde clams and Datterini tomatoes.
Meanwhile, for the drinks, Trullo's wine buyer Will Amherst has put together a list of wines from all over Italy, including the restaurant's own label Gavi and Chianti which will also be available for purchase from Harvey Nichols from 3rd March.
Whether you're making a pilgrimage to West London for this special occasion, or simply fuelling up with a plate of pasta between trying on dresses, one thing's for sure – a shopping spree has never tasted so good.
Trullo at Harvey Nichols will open on Monday 3 March for three months. The restaurant will serve lunch from 12:30 to 2:45pm and dinner from 6:00 to 8:00pm, with a lighter menu available from 3:00 to 5:00pm. The pop-up will operate on a walk in only basis – no reservations required.
