To celebrate the launch of Deanston Whisky’s new 17-Year-Old Orange Wine Cask release, Foodism has teamed up with the Scottish single malt whisky distillery to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a bundle of three 70cl bottles of Deanston’s core range whiskies.

Back in 1966, founder Brodie Hepburn turned a Highland cotton mill into a distillery because he thought it would be the perfect place to craft award-winning whisky. Ever since then, Deanston has been embracing the unconventional in pursuit of flavour-forward single malts.

Orange Wine Cask Finish is the latest chapter in that story. Deanston’s naturally honeyed, citrus-forward and waxy spirit works beautifully with a whole range of cask types. In this case, it is the perfect match for rare Vino de Naranja casks from Andalucía. The casks which once held this fortified wine, which has been infused with bitter orange peel and aged in a traditional solera system, impart notes of orange zest, marmalade and toasted nuts.

The result is a sweet, citrus-charged whisky with oxidative depth and refined tannins, showing that unconventional casks can sometimes be the most interesting.

This bundle includes three bottles from Deanston's core range – Deanston Virgin Oak Cask, Deanston 12YO and Deanston 18YO – as well as two Deanston Maritime Mugs.

  • Deanston Virgin Oak Cask 70cl
