In recent years, English wine has firmly entered the conversation as a world-leading producer, and one of its most important vineyards has announced a significant new chapter. Hambledon Wine Estate, often regarded as the birthplace of English wine, has announced the relaunch of its Cellar Door, with a curated collection of over 100 international wines.

The range spans classic and emerging regions, including Burgundy, Piedmont, Bordeaux, Crete, South Africa, and Portugal, hand-selected by Mark Pardoe MW, wine director at Berry Bros. & Rudd – co-owners of the estate alongside Symington Family Estates since 2023. Every producer has been chosen against Hambledon's sustainability standards, with a focus on family-run estates that prioritise land stewardship, biodiversity, and regenerative practices.

An on-site enomatic tasting machine allows visitors to sample wines before buying. At the same time, bottles can also be enjoyed on the terrace or alongside vibrant, seasonal menus at the estate's Michelin-recommended restaurant, or with an al-fresco lunch in the courtyard. This is not purely a collection of expensive collectables – bottles will start from under £20, and range upwards to over £100.

Highlights include Hambledon's Blanc de Blancs NV, which was recently awarded Gold and 95 points at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2026, and will be available via the Cellar Door. The relaunch coincides with a packed English Wine Week programme, including the Vineyards of Hampshire Fizz Fest (28 June), Hambledon’s Fire Feast dinner (27 June), and a special four-course tasting menu at The Restaurant throughout the week.

Of the relaunch, Pardoe said: “Almost without exception, the most compelling wines come from family-run estates that see themselves as caretakers of their land. These producers stand out not only qualitatively, but ethically – their philosophy and character are captured in every bottle.”
