Torabhaig, the Isle of Skye Whisky Distillery, has introduced Torabhaig Taigh, its first core expression and whisky that set to define the distillery’s house style for years to come.
Pronounced “Tie”, the name comes from the Scottish Gaelic word for house. For Torabhaig it speaks to its home, and is the clearest expression of the distillery’s philosophy. Smoky and deep, but a balanced peat flavour that enhances rather than overwhelms. Crafted in small batches and matured in first-fill and refill bourbon casks with the addition of Madeira casks, Taigh delivers gentle smoke layered with vanilla custard, toasted almond, sweet dried fruits and warming spice.
Set on Skye’s Sleat Peninsula, Torabhaig is one of only two single malt distilleries on the island. Housed in a restored steading built from the stones of a neighbouring ruined castle, the distillery continues a long tradition of craftsmanship on the island, influenced by sea air, weather and the island’s community.
Poet Iona Lee
To mark this latest expression, the distillery has partnered with Scottish poet Iona Lee on an original piece of work inspired by Torabhaig’s home on the Sleat Peninsula. Over the coming months, Lee’s poetry will be shared through performances, film and editorial content, extending Torabhaig’s sense of place far beyond Skye.
Neil MacLeod Mathieson, Torabhaig whisky maker, said: “Taigh is the heart of Torabhaig. It captures everything we’ve been working towards since we first started distilling – a whisky with elegance, balance and character, where smoke enhances the flavour rather than dominating it. The addition of Madeira in this expression brings a softening roundness to the spirit that we think makes this whisky especially welcoming.”

Iona Lee added: “Taigh is a word that carries warmth, memory and responsibility. Writing about Torabhaig’s home on Sleat has been about listening closely – to the land, the weather, the people and the stories that live there. It was important to me that these poems
reflect the home of Torabhaig honestly, as a living, working whisky distillery shaped by those who know it best and whose influence can be tasted in every dram.”
Torabhaig Taigh launches globally from 25 March 2026, with an RRP of £47. Learn more at torabhaig.com.
