Flavour of the Week: Sinabro

Is Battersea Rise becoming London's Rive Gauche? Not quite, but a dash of Parisian flair has arrived in the form of the cosy-yet-chic Sinabro

Contemporary bistro Sinabro at Battersea Rise

What's the draw

Before arriving in Battersea, Yoann Chevet racked up 20 years of experience in legendary Parisian establishments including Le Taillevent and La Table de Joël Robuchon. Now he and his wife Sujin Lee are serving up artfully-presented modern French dishes in this intimate and unpretentious restaurant. Très bon just doesn't do it justice.

What to eat

There's an à la carte option, but we were hungry (as usual) so went for for the six-plate tasting menu. Standouts were sea bass topped with flakes of smoked tuna and venison that glistened in a sticky blackcurrant sauce. Beware of scoffing all the warm homemade bread before you start on your mains - it’s dangerously moreish.

What to drink

Chevet's Loire valley origins have helped shape the wine list, but it's kept well-rounded by a few carefully chosen selections from South America and a slightly unexpected German Reisling. We plumped for a rich and velvety Manos Negras 2011 malbec from Argentina that went down a treat with our venison.
