This year, the wine world turned its attention to Provence and Château Cavalier’s Marafiance 2024, Côtes de Provence, which has been awarded ‘Best in Show’ at the 2025 Decanter World Wine Awards, the world’s largest wine competition.
Scoring an impressive 97 points, Marafiance stands among Decanter’s Top 50 Wines of the Year, selected from more than 18,000 entries spanning 57 countries and every imaginable style. Out of 1,050 rosés tasted by an international jury, including 22 Master Sommeliers and 72 Masters of Wine, Château Cavalier’s Marafiance 2024 emerged as the premier rose
At the heart of this success lies Château Cavalier, a vineyard sanctuary in Vidauban at the foot of the Maures Massif, within the newly recognised protected geographical indication Notre-Dame des Anges. A vineyard of 132 contiguous hectares naturally bordered by surrounding woodland, this corner of inland Provence offers a haven for vines to grow.

At Château Cavalier, wines are fermented using natural yeasts, for a richly aromatic wine. Grapes ripen slowly on cool summer nights and hot summer days, and they are harvested at night.
The Marafiance 2024 blend captures the character of this terroir. It’s composed of grenache, syrah, cinsault, rolle, sémillon and cabernet sauvignon, and the result is a pale rosé with clean aromas of white peach, redcurrant, and citrus zest. It is crisp and finely structured, with notes of wild strawberry, pink grapefruit, and a hint of Mediterranean herbs, as complex and refreshing as you’d want from a showstopping rose. It's versatility makes it suitable for a variety of occasions, but it pairs especially well with group summer dining, from barbecue to paella.
