Enjoying the start of the Rio Olympics? Get in the Brazilian spirit by making a cocktail with the country's national spirit, cachaça. A distilled spirit made from sugar cane juice, it's sweet and complex – and this cocktail from the Reverend JW Simpson makes use of sparkling wine and elderflower to complement newly launched brand Yaguara's acclaimed spirit.

The French 75 meets Yaguara cachaça (if you don't know it yet, you will) for something fancy, refreshing and, er, topical ahead of the Rio Olympics

Ingredients
- 20ml Yaguara cachaça
- 15ml fresh lime juice
- 10ml sage-infused elderflower cordial
- Sparkling wine, to top
Method
The cordial
Add 60g sage to 500ml elderflower cordial, leave for 48 hours and strain.
The cocktail
Shake and strain all ingredients into a chilled champagne flute. Top with the sparkling wine and garnish with a sage leaf.
