Where there's smoke, there's fire... And in Meatopia's case, shedloads of incredible meat dishes from a raft of the world-renowned chefs. The annual flame and food festival returns to London on 1-3 September, transforming Tobacco Dock into a Bacchanalian, weekend-long love in devoted to food, drink, fire and music.
Founded in New York by the late Joshua Ozersky and brought to London by our very own columnist Richard H Turner (meat consultant at Hawksmoor and Foxlow, among others), Meatopia is all about celebrating the very best in taste and provenance. That means everything is cooked over real fire, with ethically sourced wood and charcoal, and each and every piece of meat is ethically sourced, too.
We're particularly looking forward to Tabasco's collaboration with Elizabeth Haigh, formerly of Michelin-starred Pidgin, ahead of the launch her own venture Shibui – she'll be cooking her own signature barbecue dishes, but with a hit of hot sauce.
But it's not only for carnivores: there's a new twist this year, with seafood stalwarts Nathan Outlaw and Mitch Tonks stepping up to the plate to serve their incredible fish, and Yotam Ottolenghi devoting his grill showing us what can be done with veg.
As for drinks, the Frontier brewery returns with its new-wave craft lager – which will go down a treat with Meatopia's smoky flavours, while McGuigan wines' brings back its incredible spicy, juicy black label malbec.
Elsewhere, there'll be both old faces and new from across the world. See the full line up below.
