In recent years, wine drinkers have become noticeably more adventurous. The mainstream has changed from Burgundy, Rioja and Chardonnay to skin-contact and orange wines, and bottles from the New World. But that desire to discover a taste of the road less travelled has only grown stronger.
35 South embodies that burgeoning spirit of exploration, ideal for those who find joy in taking the scenic route, seeking new experiences, and embracing life's everyday adventures.
The name refers to the 35th Parallel South, a real location in Chile’s Central Valley. Vineyards sit beneath wide skies, with the Andes rising to the east and the Pacific sending cooling air from the west.

That meeting of mountain, ocean, and valley suits grapes that make expressive wines, and the label designs draw on Chile's landscapes. The wines are made by Viña San Pedro, which has 160 years of winemaking tradition behind it.
The result is wine that is simple to choose but not generic: approachable, fruit-led and rooted in one place.
The wine
The 35 South Wines range comprises three core varietals available in Sainsbury’s and Morrisons now (in-store and online):
Cabernet Sauvignon 2025
Bold but balanced, with blackberry, black cherry, warm spice and subtle oak. The result is a wine that is intensely fruity, smooth and beautifully structured.
Sauvignon Blanc 2026
Reflects the cool freshness of Chile’s coastal valleys, with grapefruit, tangerine and herbal, mineral notes. The grapes are pressed gently at low temperatures and fermented below 14°C to keep that freshness.
Merlot 2025
Smooth and generous, with plum, red and black cherry and a touch of sweet spice. It’s an easy match for slower evenings as we move into the winter months, warm, comforting and effortlessly enjoyable.
According to the brand’s own research, the sentiment that Brits are becoming more adventurous is backed up by facts. In a survey of 1,000 UK adults, 55% said they would be keen to stray from their usual choice for a wine they hadn’t tried before, particularly if they could learn its story or recreate the food match at home.
Food played a part too: almost nine in ten believe their area has a lesser-known local dish worth travelling for, and the average respondent would go 60 miles to try one.
Whether it's an off-road ramble through autumn countryside, a bracing cold-water swim, exploring winding country lanes, gathering friends around a crackling firepit, or cooking up a hearty feast outdoors as the evenings draw in, 35 South is the perfect companion for those moments of discovery.
