Three cocktail recipes to put a twist on single malt this season

Rich, smooth, sweet and fruity, Glen Moray’s Twisted Vine is an ideal Christmas spirit. Here's how we use in three festive cocktails

As the cold nights draw in, Glen Moray’s latest single malt, Twisted Vine, is the perfect companion. Whether you are relaxing at home or celebrating the festive season with friends, this delicious Speyside whisky can be enjoyed in a multitude of ways, thanks to its smooth balanced flavours.

Matured in ex-Cognac casks, from oak grown near Cognac's vineyards in France, the resulting dram is the perfect marriage of spirit and cask wood: sweet and woody with notes of dried fruit, nuts and spice.

A brilliant Christmas gift, it’s delicious served neat as a winter warmer, with your favourite mixer or in a whole host of mouthwatering cocktails some of which may surprise your tastebuds!

So as the usual busy rush of the festive season descends, why not to cast your single malt rule book aside and get creative when enjoying Glen Moray’s latest offering.

Here are three cocktail recipes that are perfect for both whisky newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts alike.

The Pineapple DiVine

Combing the earthy notes of Glen Moray Twisted Vine whisky with refreshing pineapple, the Pineapple DiVine is known for getting the party started

Serves 1

Preparation time 5 minutes

Cooking time 30 minutes

Created by the London-based duo behind the popular drinks magazine, website and podcast ‘The Cocktail Lovers’. This refreshing serve is inspired by the sweet, fruity notes in the whisky – and features a surprising ingredient that’s not typically associated with whisky-based drinks: pineapple.

Ingredients

Homemade pineapple syrup:

  • ¼ fresh pineapple
  • 120ml brown sugar
  • 120ml water
  • ¼ teaspoon mixed spice

 Pineapple DiVine cocktail:

  • 50ml Glen Moray Twisted Vine
  • 25ml homemade pineapple syrup (recipe above)
  • 20ml fresh lemon juice
  • 40ml prosecco
  • Grape for garnish

Method

Homemade pineapple syrup:

  1. Cut the pineapple into small chunks and add them, along with the sugar, mixed spice and water to a saucepan. Bring to the boil and simmer very gently for around 30 minutes, occasionally mashing down the pineapple to make a puree.
  2. Leave to cool and strain off the lovely pineapple syrup. (Don’t throw away the remaining puree, its great mixed with ice cream for dessert.)

Pineapple DiVine cocktail:

  1. Shake the first three ingredients over ice and strain into a large wine glass filled with ice cubes. Top with the Prosecco and garnish with a grape.
