There's no doubting that America is home to some of the best spirits to be found anywhere. Whether it's the old-school bourbons that make up your favourite cocktails or the new breed of gins that the brown spirits-loving country is coming to love, there's a simply enormous array of quality distilled drinks to be found across the length and breadth of the US.

Whether you're a proud American celebrating your country's birth date or a Londoner simply looking for a refreshing new cocktail this July, look no further than this one. Built around bourbon from FEW Spirits – a grain-to-glass distiller from just outside Chicago that's won acclaim for its bourbons and rye whiskies – it's an elegant and refreshing long drink that's great as an aperitif or a party drink.

The drink is part of a campaign by DISCUS (the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States) that sees some of London's best bars pitching in to create one-off drinks for a week-long celebration of American spirits, taking place from 1-8 July 2021 and entitled Sip America. For the week, Satan’s Whiskers, Fitz’s Bar, Crossroads and Little Mercies will highlight American whiskeys from Illinois, Kentucky, Oregon, and Tennessee respectively in four delicious drinks, giving you the chance to map out the flavour profiles of some incredible whiskeys.
