Se Busca mole old fashioned

You might not be au fait with the ins and outs of Mexico, but the country's traditional spirit, mezcal, is likely to be popping up on your radar, whether that's as an accompaniment to your latest taco binge or at dedicated events like London Mezcal Week

Either way, we're sure it's whet your appetite for more. We like Se Busca mezcal, made by maestros mezcaleros Rodolfo and Mary Lopez Sosa, whose family has produced mezcal in the Oaxaca region of Mexico for 200 years. Se busca means 'wanted',  and is a tribute to the brave women who fought in the Mexican revolution.

Try it in the cocktail below, a Mexican take on the old fashioned made with mole bitters and Se Busca's Anejo mezcal, which has been aged in French oak barrels for years, giving it a balance of rich agave and notes of sweet oak, dates and raisins.

Ingredients

  • 45 ml Se Busca Anjeo Mezcal
  • 20 ml cinnamon syrup
  • 1 dash angostura bitters
  • 2 dash mole bitters

Method

  1. Place all ingredients into mixing pitcher with ice.
  2. Stir to mix.
  3. Strain into a rocks glass.
  4. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and orange twist.
