What's the draw
It may have been flying for more than a couple of years now, but the US revolution (the food one) shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. One of its more recent new exponents, Hawkins Forge, is flying the flag from a great location on Battersea Rise, serving up the usual suspects from a big, comfy, neon-clad room with exposed brick, high wooden tables, and great craft beer on tap.
What to drink
Beers, beers, beers. We had an excellent Tiny Rebel One Inch Punch American ale, which was crisp, hoppy and went down a treat with our enormous platters of food (more on which later). A full rack of spirits promised a cocktail menu that didn't materialise, but we were assured a mixologist was incoming and there'd be a mixed drinks list as soon as possible.
What to eat
Food here is big, and isn't particularly clever, but who cares? We got our hands dirty with a platter to start (the sliders were a bit tough, but aside from that it all hit the spot). A rack of ribs, too, was sweet, smoky, spicy and fell apart to expose the bone within in the requisitely suggestive manner. Mac and cheese, with a hint of mustard, was bang-on – we could have eaten it all night.
Beers and dinner for two: around £50.
