If the name didn't give it away, the photo of this particular cocktail will suggest it probably wouldn't be best served alongside pizza and crisps in front of the football. However, if you're a) female, b) unconcerned with gender stereotypes, c) like brightly coloured things or d) a combination of the above, there aren't many cocktails that'll pack a bigger visual punch than the Flowery Godmother from Farringdon bar The Fable, due to open this February.

The impact isn't just in the looks, either – notes of mint and rose along with a big hit of gin make this one such a big hitter in the taste department that your boyfriend might join you for one. Just don't tell his mates.

Ingredients

  • 40ml Brockman’s gin
  • 50ml Montrose rosé wine
  • 25ml lime juice
  • 25ml gomme syrup
  • 5ml rose water
  • 6 rose petals
  • 1 mint sprig

Method

Begin by slicing four of the rose petals into thin slices. Then put into a large wine glass filled with crushed ice, along with all the other ingredients and churn. Add another mound of crushed ice to overfill the glass and garnish with the mint sprig and remaining rose petals.

The Fable opens in Farringdon in February. To sign up to its newsletter, and for details of the opening offer and exclusive treats, visit thefablebar.co.uk@thefablebar or facebook.com/thefablebar.
