The Green Bastard cocktail

If the name didn't give it away, this cocktail is not to be trifled with. One of the signature cocktails of Marble Arch Japanese lounge Kurobuta, it contains medori (a Japanese melon liqueur) and bitter lime with hints of cooling cucumber – the perfect sweet and sour cooler for a summer's day. Oh, and we should mention, it's from Kurobuta's 'Hobo' range, meaning it's served authentically in a brown paper bag.


  • 30ml Hendrick's gin
  • 20ml midori
  • 15ml sugar syrup
  • 15ml lime juice
  • 10ml egg white
  • 4 chunks of muddled cucumber
  • Cucumber slices as garnish


Muddle the cucumber and gin together and pour into a shaker with the rest of the ingredients and a scoop of ice. Snake it hard and strain into a short glass. Top with a couple of cucumber slices, and enter summertime!
