Silent Pool Distillers shot to acclaim for its original gin, made by a team of impassioned people who wanted to give their special corner of Surrey a gin that befit its environment.
This is where the brand still runs its entire operation, from distillation to bottling. It's made by the same core of people who started the brand, in line with their vision: a commitment to sourcing great ingredients and a deft approach to creating dazzlingly yet delicately complex spirits.
The latest serve to join their stable is Silent Pool Rare Citrus Gin. As the name suggests, it's an innovative and alluring spirit handcrafted with the world's rarest citrus.
It's flavour done properly. No additives, no colourings. A proper gin, distilled from only fresh or dried ingredients. The light, bright and rich citrus notes are perfectly balanced by delicate spices coming through from juniper, coriander and angelica with hints of liquorice and cassia. Tropical, peppery notes are enhanced by cardamom, cubeb and Timur pepper that adds a fruity, peppered grapefruit note.
It expertly balances bright and zesty notes of buddha's hand (a citrus fruit with finger-like sections) with enticingly rich notes of natsu dai dai orange, subtly sweetened with hirado buntan pomelo.
And because it comes from this award-winning distiller, you know it's been made with the same painstaking approach as the rest of Silent Pool Gin's range.
But when you drink such a beautifully made gin, you want to make sure that you pay homage to the work and care that goes into it, in cocktails that make its complex flavours shine.
We've done the hard work for you: here are three ways to make the most of this unique, luxurious spirit.
